Default Humidifier Problem
Model Number: 580 53650200   Brand: Kenmore   Appliance Age: Over 10 years

Hi

First of all, I am honored to be one having the first post for humidifiers.

I have a Kenmore Model Number 580 53650200 Humidifier that is over 15 years old. With the bucket attached and a hose attached to the bottom of the bucket, the humidity setting set to 40 and pressing the power switch the unit only runs for about a minuite and them shuts off with the bucket is full indicatior light coming on. The bucket is obviously empty. Tryed removing the bucket and starting the unit and the same thing happens. Can shut the unit off and restart it, but again in only goes a minuite and shuts off with the buket is full indicatior light coming on.

Thank you for any advice and help you can give.

This comes up as a dehumidifier and not a humidifier.

Bad/broken float in the bucket, bad/broken/out of place float switch would be prime suspects.

Thank you, Jeff.

Yes, I meant de-humidifier.

Also, in removing the bucket and starting the dehumidifier it runs for the same amount of time as when the bucket is attached? Is this a faulty switch or is there some type of sensor that is not working.

Thanks so much

Gary

Has to be investigated. The float switch is the sensor. Bad switch, bent switch arm, broken float/bucket, ect...
