Hi,

In rural South Dakota the going rate for a service call is $55-$65 depending on who you call, plus $1/mile.

In VA/NC I get $67 minimum plus travel and about 15-20 for a second trip depending on how far the job is away.

Good for you. Welcome back, then.
I just hope it goes well for you, considering you've been out for quite some time.

Welcome back to "the grind"! I think your rates will depend primarily on the area you live in and the products your going to service. I used to work for Maytag and we had a flat rate system we used (119$ ) for the NYC, Jersey, Philly, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia metro markets. My customers here in Central NY would totally balk at those rates! However I have a local guy who only services high-end products that has no problem collecting $150 service calls on sub zero refers! At my outfit we charge $63 for local and $73 for non local and put a $10 adder to any front load washer call we take. These call fees cover the tech for the first half hour in the home, 99% of the time we're in and out the door in that time frame. I try to base our rates on the average of what our warranty rates pay out.
Good luck!
