Default Replaced water valve ice maker still not filling and now not making ice.
Model Number: 25358689895   Brand: Kenmore   Appliance Age: 5-10 years

Kenmore refrigerator
Model Number 25358689895

I was attempting to fix the ice maker, and front water spout. The ice maker made ice if i poured water in it but would not fill up on its own. I read around and figured out it was most likely the water valve

I bought a new water valve model number 218859701

After I installed it the water was coming out of the water spout. The ice maker was filling on its own. I filled it with water to try to kick start it. it started making sounds like it making ice.

Now the ice maker is not making ice when I put water in it.The bottom of it is very hot when the lever is down and when I pour water in it now it does not freeze and drop the ice out should I replace the ice maker? or some part of it?

Or do you think it is the other valve that goes to the ice maker and the water dispenser. Since the dispenser works i think this valve is good.

If the icemaker is in fact getting hot on the bottom it is more than likely jamed or stripped and can,t finish its cycle, Bad im motor Possible, or something obstructing the ejection fingers
Good luck Rick

I haven't owned an ice maker, but is it expensive? If it's not, maybe you can just get a new one.

Hi,

I would check the water inlet tube that fills the ice maker to see if it's froze shut.
