Model Number: 597 Brand: Caloric/Danby Appliance Age: Over 10 years
When we turn the gas oven on, the glow plug starts glowing, however, when the gas starts to flow it sometimes takes 10 ro 15 seconds for the burner to lite. This sometimes results in a large lite-off as the raw gas has collected in the oven. We leave the oven door open as we are afraid the lite-off could cause damage to the door. Any suggestions... Thanks

Hi kurt,
Sounds like you have a bad oven ignitor. If I were to check it I would use a clamp on amp meter to see if the oven ignitor is drawing the correct amount of amps. With the age of the stove I would also take a look at the holes in the burner tube. Pay special attention to the holes closest to the ignitor. Sometimes the holes get rusty and enlarge. |
