Default Samsung temp display problems

I have a samsung RS2533VQ that has a problem with the temp display. The temp is set for 38 degrees and the display will read in the 50's at times and then will go back to 38. Does not appear to be a loose connection. The temp in the fridge seems good. Not sure how the temp and control work? I would expect a t/c for the fridge and one for the freezer. It has been my experience that the t/c either works or doesn't. Could the problem be in the display and is this also the control?

Thanks for the manual. When running the self diagnostic, the only segment that lights up is the bar in the middle of the 8. The manual force of the defrost system does not work. Starting to look more like a main pcb issue.
