Default Garbage Disposal

I use my garbage disposal daily, and when i run it- i always make sure to have the water running into the drain at the time. But lately i have been smelling a burning smell when i run the disposal. Is there something i could do to stop it smelling like that or do i need to get a new one?

There are a few things you can check for…
Over time, sludge, scum, and grease can build up. Use an approved disposer cleaner such as Disposal Magic to clean and deodorize your disposer. If you want to go natural, grind some orange, lime, or lemon citrus peels in the disposer along with some ice cubes.
Make sure when you are running water, no water is going on any electrical parts.
Sometimes a smell emits from certain motor types. However you should still keep an eye on it.

If it's the burnt plastic/rubber smell is very strong and you notice any smoke, you should have someone check it out as it could be a fire hazard, or be a cause for electrical shock.

With water running through inside of the grinding room, and you still smell burning, which means the smells is not from the grinding room, instead of the inside structure..Probably frequent plastic friction around the high speed motor, like ring, seal or something like that. That happens when your motor lose its balance.

My advice: Go get a new one.

Well, citrus fruits are a popular choice, just drop in the rinds of oranges or lemons, run the disposal and you'll have sweet smelling air in the kitchen.
