Hello all -
I'm installing a kitchen in my space and have purchased from a ReStore a vintage metal cabinet with what appears to be a custom range installed in a stainless steel countertop. There is virtually no information on the range top so I'll try to provide as much information as possible. There are 6 holes cut into a stainless steel countertop, 3 large burners, 3 small burners. The cabinet was modified to include the 6 control knobs on the front. The rheostats are individual per burner and are all screwed together in-line. The burners have a red TK on the center cap and each have a ceramic/porcelain terminal block (actually, 1 is missing and I'm trying to source that). The ceramic block has a spot for 3 connections, 1 marked COM, 2 and 1. On the burner, there is a clip that is attached to 2 leads (which connect to COM) and those go to a ground (all six burners are attached to a mounting plate for ground). Does anyone know where I can find a porcelain terminal block like this? Or, would it be beneficial or even possible to replace all of the terminals with a newer style, one that accepts the removable burners? Is this just a big waste of time, will I ever get this thing running again? I've labeled everything, taken it all apart, with the exception of how the rheostats are wired together, cleaned everything up and would like to get it installed soon. Any information or help you can provide would be extremely appreciated. Thanks. - Anthony - I can post pictures of anything if it would help. |

Thanks Jeff, thanks Appliancejunk - this has turned out to be much more difficult than I originally had thought. Someone emailed back saying it may be a japanese stove and that I was basically dead in the water. I refuse to believe that... yet. A new question would be can I run this with only 5 of the burners connected? 6 burners, while totally awesome, is not 100% necessary. I'm not giving up hope, yet, I will find that connector block.

As long as the wires are isolated and caped off I can't see why not.
Found this as well.... http://www.itsnla.com/ jeff. |

Use ceramic wire nuts if you decide to cap the wires that way.
