Default Maytag top load slow to spin
Model Number: MAVT754EWW   Brand: Maytag   Appliance Age: 1 – 5 years

Atlantis top loader...
All water pumps out, and it is spinning when I open the lid, jusy not fast enough to remove water from items, and fabric softener is still in the center holder.
No water in bottom after it stops, just wet clothes.
It does seen to make more noise than necessary during agitation also.
If it is the cluth, or the transmission...how do I test these ?
Can these be taken apart?

Shortest life of any washer in my 50 years of used Whirlpools, Kenmores etc....and this was a new one.

Hi

Check the simple things first.

I would first take a look at the belt to see if it's glossy looking. If the belt looks bad replace it.

You could also check the drain hose for restrictions and the drain hose in back of the washer for kinks. If the washer can not get the water drained out of the machine in the correct about of time the washer is going to be spinning with to much water in the tub.

With all the extra water in the tube it will not be able to spin up to speed.

Here is a service manual you may find helpful.

Thanks for help...
Hose removed and checked to be sure is clear...OK
Belt OK (added belt dressing too)

All water is pumped out after wash cycle...I watched from above...and spin cycle begins, just never gets up to speed.

I removing front panel now...just to look for obvious problems.

What would be next in line to check ?

Front panel off...as I watch the transmission and shaft from pulley,
Now it does not spin anymore...but it is agitating inside when it should be spinning.
All water is pumped out and hose is clear.
I have tried all the spin cycle choices...all same results.

Is this the brake staying on?

Or maybe the brake not coming on?

When I flipped it over...all the pulleys spin by hand very easy and they are smooth.

Motor sounds good too, and if I slide motor to tighten belt...no change
