Model Number: RAS6233KQ2 Brand: Roper Appliance Age: 1 – 5 years
My washer fills with water correctly, then sets silent. When the timer is moved to spin it drains and spins correctly. What do you think the problem is.

Hi wendell,
The most common problem with these type of washers (direct drive) that I see is a bad motor coupler. This repair guide will show you how to check and replace the motor coupler. http://appliancejunk.com/motorcoupler.pdf But being you said it does spin then the motor coupler should be fine. Being it drains and spins this also tells me that the washer lid switch is ok. This leads me to believe that you have a bad timer or a bad connection in the wire harness between the timer and motor. I have run into a number of bad connection on the motor harness plug were it would make the washer not agitate. To check the connection remove the cabinet and fill the washer up with water so it can try to agitate. During the agitation cycle wiggle the motor plug around to see if the motor kicks in and starts running. Let us know what you find. |

During the agitation cycle you can also try wiggling the timer knob to see if the washer motor kicks in and starts running.
If it does then you need to replace the timer. |
