Default Kenmore Refrigerator Water Dispenser Leaking Water

My Kenmore side by side refrigerator just started leaking water from the water dispenser on the door. It is just a few drops every so often, but after a while it starts running down the door onto the floor making a mess. I never use the water dispenser but I do use the ice dispenser. I have come to the conclusion from researching this problem on the internet that the problem must be the water inlet valve located on the back of the frig. My question is, since I do not use the water dispenser could I just unplug the wires that go to the solenid on the inlet valve that controls it. That way my ice dispenser should still work but shut off all power to the water dispenser causing it to stay shut. Please let me know what you think.

If your water valve it the reason it's dripping water it's because the valve is not sealing anymore and water is leaking by the old inlet valve.

That is a mechanical problem with the valve and not a electrical problem.
This mean that unplugging the wires to the solenoid will not do any good.

You would need to replace the valve to repair it.

But before you do that there are a few other things that can make it drip at the door too.

1. Air in the water line
2. Low water pressure.

You could have got air in the water line if the water to any part of the house was turned of when some other plumbing work was being done.

To get the air out simply run the water for a while to clear the line.

I have also seen were reverse osmosis systems get connected to refrigerators and cause low water pressure problems making them drip.
