Default Grinding and Marking Clothes
Model Number: FDG648GFSO   Brand: Frigidaire   Appliance Age: 5-10 years

Hi my dryer is making a wicked grinding noise like metal on metal when you first start it up, then once it turns a few times it goes away but there is play in the drum,. It is also marking up some of the clothes as they get stuck in the corner of the drum. I want to replace whatever is needed as I pull it apart so I would need to know what should be replaced or if anyone else has had this problem. I think the bearing may be shot in there. Is there a kit where you get multiple items to replace at once instead of buying them individually? Thanks

Hi,

First of your model number should end it a zero and not the letter "O" so the correct model number would be FDG648GFS0.

It will be easier to find parts with the correct model number.

Sounds like you have a bad bearing.

There is a repair kit that includes all the parts you need to repair the rear drum bearing.

Bearing Kit Part # 5303281153

It sounds like you need the front glides too. There is a kit that includes all the wearing parts including the glides and the rear bearing.
