We have a Frigidare Gas Stove model FGF337EWC. The oven was working fine two weeks ago. Now it heats up slowly and does not reach the set temperature. The glow igniter glows and stays on. The oven flames are blue tipped and stand ¼ to 3/8 inch tall. Less than 5% of the flames flicker with yellow tips at any given instant. It took 32 minutes for the oven to think it had reached the set temperature of 350. An in-the-oven thermometer was reading 250 when the oven beep and continued to read 250 as the oven cycled on and off for the next 10 minutes. Any ideas?

Hi,
Does the oven burner stay on during preheat or does it cycle on and off? If the oven cycles on and off during preheat I would check the amp draw on the ignitor with a clamp on amp meter or just replace the ignitor if you have no way to check it.

I have had the same problem with a Caloric gas oven. After I changed the igniter it works fine.

Thanks for the comments appliancejunk. Going to try to keep the videos going as it's a little slow this time of year here. Tough Biz on the back.

Please help and forgive me tfor the long summary note. We have a Frigidaire Gas Stove model FGF337EWC. An in-the-oven thermometer was reading 250 when the oven beep and continued to read 250 as the oven burner cycled on and off for the next 10 minutes. The oven burner DOES NOT cycle until the oven reaches 250 degrees on the thermometer that I hung on the rack. The oven heat setting was set to reach and maintain 350. I checked the amp draw on the igniter and the reading was 3.01. I have replaced the flat igniter and the amp draw now measures 3.4 amps. I have replaced the temperature sensor with no impact on the problem. I have been looking for information to confirm what the flame height should be. Do you know? The flame height now has been between 1/4 and 3/8 inches of blue tip flame. The stove top burners function well. How do I determine if; 1. the safety valve is not opening up enough, 2. the electronic thermostat is not functioning correctly, 3. the flames are not large enough, or 4. what else would be preventing the oven from reaching the set temperature? Thanks for your time and help. Don |
